Last year, we invested over £45 million in our existing stock. This meant 398 homes got new bathrooms, kitchens and heating systems.
It meant we redecorated almost 1,700 homes, refurbished 968 homes and adapted 77 homes so residents with disabilities didn’t have to move. It meant hundreds of homes were transformed to Decent Homes standard – now, 94% of our homes are compliant.
Then there’s repairs. We know they’re a major concern for our residents – but they tell us we’re getting better at mangaging them.
One resident in Bermondsey said she received an “impressive and outstanding” service from us.
But it’s not just about the figures. It’s about transforming people’s homes. So when one of our elderly residents told us she had problems reaching the back of her kitchen cupboards, we didn’t just replace them.
We adapted them for her needs, by lowering the wall units and replacing the lower level cupboards with pull-out drawers.
There’s also RESICO, a social enterprise company owned and run by our residents. It provides cleaning, caretaking and maintenance services to some of our homes and offices. And, by working in partnership with our repairs handyman, it’s helped us identify minor repairs on 21 of our schemes in Earl’s Court before they turn into major problems.
We’re going to carry on investing our money, our energy and our experience so we can continue to transform thousands of homes every year.
