The Youth Academy offers a variety of positive activities for children and young people ranging from sports and arts to cultural activities.

Young people can work with a team of dedicated youth  workers to help develop their own ideas for activities and gain access to training, volunteer and work experience opportunities. And for the first time Family Mosaic is providing a bursary for young people to help with business ideas or career aspirations.

How and where is it provided?
The Youth Academy is delivered by a team based at Family Mosaic’s head office in SE1 consisting of a coordinator, a senior coach and 2 full time youth workers.

The team cover London and Essex in areas where Family Mosaic have properties or deliver services. The team work closely with neighbourhood managers and support workers to deliver a local service responding to the needs of children and young people.

Why do we provide this service?
The Youth Academy allows children and young people to engage in activities in areas where there may be a lack of youth provision. We also seek to provide opportunities for young people to develop skills which will help with later career aspirations.
  • Bidemi joined our football academy and was able to take an FA Level 1 coaching qualification and gain employment as a part time football coach whilst studying at University.
  • Alishia helped plan our 2010 Youth Conference and used her reward credits to pay for a lifeguarding NVQ qualification and works part time at a local leisure centre and hopes to attend university in
    September 2011.

Who is it for?

The target group for the Youth Academy is children and young people aged from 8 to 25, who either live in Family Mosaic properties or who live in households where someone is receiving support services from Family Mosaic. By investing in children and young people who are affected by our services we believe we can have a positive impact and increase their life chances.
