What happens if I dont pay my rent?

Payment of rent is not a matter of choice, it is an essential part of your tenancy agreement, and we take a firm but fair approach to tenants who fail to pay.

However, we do recognise that tenants may suffer financial problems and can fall into arrears for all kinds of reasons.

Your Income Officer is here to help and if you are having difficulties paying your rent you should contact us as soon as possible.  You can make an appointment to see your Income Officer privately, either at the local office or in your home.

Alternatively, you can make use of our "drop in" Rent Surgeries that occur on the following days between 10am-1pm and 2-4:30pm at our local offices detailed below:

South Region Tenants:                Charlton office - every Thursday

North & West Region Tenants:      Wood Green office - every Thursday

East Region Tenant:                     Wood Green office - every Thursday

Charlton office: 9-10 Cedar Court, Fairlawn, Cherry Orchard Estate, London, SE7 7EH

Wood Green office: 4th Floor, River Park House, 225 High Road, Wood Green, London, N22 8LN

Your Income Officer can:

  • identify benefits you may be entitled to
  • help you fill in claims forms
  • make an agreement with you to pay your arrears in instalments depending on your income and circumstances
