Last year Family Mosaic joined an initiative called The Rental Exchange. This groundbreaking initiative is a data sharing scheme which allows housing associations and councils to share tenants’ rental payment history with Experian on a monthly basis, to help them strengthen their credit profile. This means tenants will then be recognised for paying their rent on time in the same way that homeowners are with their mortgage payments.
They will also be able to prove identity (which will make them a more reliable potential customer to companies) and show a track record of paying rent which will open up new channels and services, giving fairer access to bank accounts, insurance, mobile phones, credit cards, loans, online shopping, and better gas and electricity rates. It also helps in avoiding unscrupulous lenders.
The UK Housing Awards, organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Inside Housing, are widely recognised as the biggest and best awards in the sector. They recognise the ingenuity, creativity, passion and hard work of housing organisations across the UK. The winners will be announced in April.
