Our trainee support worker scheme was announced as the winner of the TPAS 'Best Practice' in Supporting People category earlier this month.

Following on from its short-listing in March, the training scheme was finally successful in winning the award for the South of England, presented at a glittering ceremony in Covent Garden.

The scheme provides a mix of training and job placements for service users, offering those who successfully complete the course a permanent post within the directorate.

Moira Griffiths (left), Regional Director in Supported Housing, was delighted to accept the award, commenting: "We were really delighted that the trainee scheme was recognised in this way. It is a great scheme that offers people that we support work-based training and the opportunity to get a real job with us. 

The ex-trainees are all excellent support workers, with one now in an acting management position."
