The grand re-opening

30 Jun 2009
Old Oak Community Centre makeover completed

The Old Oak Community Centre recently opened its doors again after a full refurbishment to help enhance community services to local residents.

Having started work a little over a year ago, the new-look community and children’s centre boasts a full make over with many new additions, including:

  • A brand new kitchen, allowing community and corporate events to be held there.
  • A new nursery and playground for the under 5’s, creating a more stimulating and secure environment.
  • New offices and interview rooms for a host of new services for the community.

David Leach, Director of Old Oak Housing Association said, “This building is a demonstration of the unique and close working relationship we have with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham that we have been able to provide a building fit to meet the needs of our local community and provide essential community services to our residents.”

The jointly funded project between Old Oak Housing Association and the LB of Hammersmith and Fulham will mean that all children under the age of 5 living at Old Oak will have access to the centre and the services it delivers.

The employment of two new grant-funded posts will mean that there will be more support and opportunity for parents and their children to enjoy the activities at the centre and create a thriving community for the future.
