Tenants in UK top-four for Social HomeBuy

15 Jan 2008
Family Mosaic tenants at front of the queue for home buy

Our Social Homebuy sales show Family Mosaic tenants at the front of the queue of tenants wanting to buy their home. With 16 sales wrapped up in year one, we were pipped at the post by just one other London housing association and just three landlords across the whole UK.

Imperial Wharf, LondonSouthwark tops our Social Homebuysales so far, with three former tenantsnow home owners, followed by Hackney(two), with one sale each for Barnet,Brent, Ealing, Haringey, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Richmond, Sutton, Waltham Forest and Westminster. Sales inmany other boroughs are in the pipeline.

Not surprisingly, houses have proved most popular, accounting for seven of the properties sold. We have also sold six flats in older converted street properties. And about 80% of those taking the plunge have opted for a 100% buy out. By March we expect to complete another 22 sales but for other would-be buyers Social Homebuy is now on ice. We hope to restart sales in April if our bid for more funding from the Housing Corporation has been successful. If you have any questions about Social Homebuy, contact Emma Adjei, Sales Administrator, on 020 7089 1205.
