26 Aug 2010 pathways2work helps tenants find work with new contractors
Earlier this year, Family Mosaic and repairs and maintenance contractors held meetings to discuss work and apprenticeship opportunities for residents.
Following the successful announcement of the new contractors, job opportunities were identified and Mears and Morrison sent the job descriptions to our resident employment team, pathways2work, who then advertised them on our website.
Employment Liaison Officers (ELOs) contacted residents they were working with, along with newly registered residents who had the appropriate qualifications, for the vacancies to prepare their CVs.
Once the contractors had shortlisted the candidates for interview, the ELOs were available to offer support with interview techniques. Morrison held an interview evening and the six residents interviewed were successful. Mears held an open day in Greenwich and five of the residents who attended were successful.
Pathways2work are in constant contact with the contractors to ensure our residents have the opportunity to apply for any jobs that become available. Any residents who are unsuccessful with the contractors will continue to work with the ELOs to look for alternative employment. If you are interested in working for our partner contractors, there will be an advertisement from Morrison in the next issue of Connections newsletter. Enterprise will launch a recruitment campaign in the near future.
