Making Greenwich greener

23 Jan 2008
Family Mosaic and partners to develop 'environmentally sensitive' homes in Greenwich

Imagine building new homes for tenants with no boilers or a heating system.  They don’t sound very attractive.  However, we propose to do just that at Gallon Close, in Charlton when we develop seven large 4-bedroom homes for families to rent.

Gallon Close architect's imageOn the derelict site,  Family Mosaic, Osborne Homes and BPTW are going to work together to develop an environmentally sensitive development, utilising sustainable methods of providing hot water, heat and light.

We will achieve this by incorporating:

  • Low energy lighting
  • Rainwater harvesting
  • Triple glazed windows
  • Cycle storage
  • Solar heated water
  • Solar roof panels
  • Recycled timber
  • Enhanced thermal insulation
  • Integrated recycling facilities

We are committed to making sure, where possible, that all our new homes will reduce carbon emissions and ultimately help save the planet! These homes will meet Sustainable Code 5, which is almost the highest code achievable when developing sustainable homes.  This type of build means we can also keep the service charges down.

Completion is expected to be in Spring 2009.
