Family Mosaic home building aids Mayor's target

18 Jan 2010
London 'remains on track' for 50,000 affordables homes by 2012

Family Mosaic has delivered over 900 new homes in the last year, significantly addressing the need for more affordable housing in the capital.

Our latest development - Gallon Close in Charlton - was London's first scheme to reach Level 5 for the Code of Sustainable Homes and was visited by Mayor of London Borris Johnson last week, who revealed that more than 20,000 extra affordable homes, including the largest proportion of family sized units in the last decade, have been delivered in London despite the economic downturn.

Speaking from our newest development, the Mayor went on to confirm that he remains on target to deliver 50,000 affordable homes by 2012, commending those involved. He said: "It is testament to the dedication and determination of City Hall, London’s boroughs, and the Homes and Communities Agency that, despite the huge financial maelstroms we’ve had to navigate through, we are on track to deliver more affordable homes in London today than a decade ago."

Family Mosaic's Chief Executive, Brendan Sarsfield, who joined the Mayor at Gallon Close, said: "We are very proud of these high quality homes and the 900 other homes we have built in London in the last 12 months.  More homes are desperately needed in the Capital but to us it is also critical that we build homes people want and that add value to local communities."
