Family Mosaic deploys energy-saving heat pumps on Haringey estate
Family Mosaic has deployed Ground Source Heat Pumps on an estate in
Haringey to help improve energy efficiency and reduce the need for fossil fuels
used to heat water in the home.
The systems, installed by EarthEnergy Ltd, soak up heat from the Earth using a coiled pipe which is buried in the ground below the property transferring the heat into the water system. The technology is based on the mechanism refrigerators use to keep their contents cool.
Fifty five properties on the estate, built by contractors Kier Partnership Homes, are utilising the systems and these houses will be occupied in the next month or so. Properties that already use the EarthEnergy heat pumps deliver 3 - 4 kilowatts of energy to the home for every kilowatt needed to power the systems.
