For all South/East Region residents, there will be a welfare benefit advise drop in session at Albion House beginning on Monday 4th July 2011 from 10.00 am - 4.30pm and then every Monday thereon.

This will be a time when residents can come and chat with me about anything bothering them regarding welfare benefits and financial issues. Providing information and put into contact with relevant external and internal agencies to help further if necessary. For all new tenants an opportunity to have a benefit check, and advise on furniture projects etc.

Young residents in Larkhall, Stockwell and Kennington can learn how to dance Bollywood, Belly Hip Hop, Bashment, Salsa, Soca and Street Dance.

Through our partnership work with the Larkhall Consortium and Sport Action Zone in Larkhall, Stockwell and Kennington we were made aware of these events and short classes organised by the U can Dance Studio. We would like to encourage our young residents who enjoy dance and eager to learn new things to take part in those new activities in the Borough.

Food Safety in Catering (Level 2 Accredited)

This 1 day course offers a basic understanding of food safety in a catering environment. It aims to provide knowledge and understanding of food hygiene.


You will learn:

*How to take personal responsibility for food safety
*The importance of keeping working areas/ surfaces clean and hygienic
*Importance of keeping food safe and associated food hazards
*Good practice in the handling, processing and preparation of food

The qualification is awarded after the successful completion of a 45 minute multiple choice exam.

This one day course will provide you with the essential skills needed when applying for work.

*How to complete application forms
*How to present yourself at interviews

This 1 day course is designed to ensure that individuals are aware of their own safety in a work environment and the safety of others.

You will learn:

*The principles of health and safety and accident prevention
*To contribute to any health and safety management systems
*The importance of risk assessment as a technique for accident and ill health prevention
*The responsibilities placed on employers and employees
*How to recognise a hazard and main causes of harm to workers (manual handling, hazardous substances, exposure to noise and vibration)
*The importance of following systems, procedures and rules
*How individual action can reduce risks to health and safety
*How workplace equipment and task design affect health and safety

The qualification is awarded after the successful completion of multiple choice exam.
