03 Nov 2010 Fashion project for young people to provide insight and skills in working in the fashion industry
Want to know what it's like working in fashion? Ever considered it as a career?
We will soon launch a new exciting fashion project for young Family Mosaic residents, aged 16-25.
We are working together with Fashion Awareness Direct (F.A.D) - a registered educational charity dedicated to promoting fashion opportunities for the young through workshops, shows and national competitions.
The project will create a unique opportunity for participants to gain a realistic insight of what does it mean to work in fashion as well as learn and develop range of skills that prepare them for ongoing role in the fashion industry.
During the project students will gain subject specific vocational skills, including sewing and garment construction skills, pattern cutting, design and fashion illustration while also developing the confidence and experience need to succeed in the future.
Taking part in this project will enable young people to gain skills and knowledge that can be used to progress into higher education and onto workplace.
It is free to take part in the project and participants don't have to have any previous fashion experience or skills. They will learn everything they need to know during the project!
The project starts with an introduction workshop where participants will have a chance to find out more about the project and careers in fashion, meet tutors, fashion students as well as have a chance to participate in a taster workshop.
After the event they will be asked to fill in the application form to secure your place in the project.
The taster workshops will take place on:
