More about the project...

At the beginning of the summer, four taster workshops were held in Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark and over 30 young people took part. Many went on to take part in one of the three six-week 'Intro to Radio' courses run from the main Reprezent studio. Twenty-two took part and all completed at least one AQA accredited unit in either Microphone Presentation or Interview Techniques (out of those 18 completed both AQA units).

During the summer, some of the participants were also given the opportunity to experience how to cover events, including Southwark's biggest youth festival - the Mix - and Making A Difference, an event held at the Ministry of Sound to celebrate young people's positive contribution, also co-organised by Family Mosaic.

All participants were offered to carry on with weekly production workshops which lead to live or pre-recorded broadcasts on issues that matter to them. The trainees are working towards an official broadcast launch, which will include two live radio shows aired on Monday 27th September and on Thursday 30th September. These programmes will focus on employment and young people's talent - two issues that have been highlighted as important to their lives.
