Staff and Hackney residents celebrate World Mental Health Day

Staff and residents celebrated World Mental Health Day at Gillet Square in Hackney earlier this month.

The 'Get Moving' event in Dalston invited providers of mental health services to come together as a sector, showcase their services and how they promote well-being and recovery.

It also tied in with Get Moving Week earlier in October, its aims to challenge stigma by bringing people together in a fun way to understand the reality about mental health issues, not the myths.

Staff were there early to help set up our stall which had goodies to give away and on the creative side had ceramic mugs and flower pots for customers to paint and take away.

After a windy start the day was a great success!

'Reflects the uniqueness and diversity...'

Brian Innis, Contracts and Commissioning Manager for Mental health services in Hackney said, “Thank you very much for all your contributions towards making the event such a success. The atmosphere was fantastic and all the feedback I got from people around the square was very positive. I think we made something quite special together, that reflects the uniqueness and diversity of our community in Hackney.”

I would like to say a special thank you to two of our trainee’s Vikki Whitechurch and Nicole Gusthoff who helped out on the day and were a delight.

Supported Housing's Amanda Bairstow commented: "The event had a really cohesive community atmosphere. It was a privilege to be able to attend such an uplifting and successful event. The mug and pot painting was one of the more popular activities of the day. So many of the participants told me they found it incredibly therapeutic."

All staff were a credit to Family Mosaic and the values we have as an organisation.
