Increasing tenant influence on our business

Family Mosaic recruit Scrutiny Co-ordinator Jefferson Bannis

Along with tenant representatives, we have just recruited a new tenant scrutiny co-ordinator, Jefferson Bannis, who lives in one of our London homes.

The handover of more power to tenants was demonstrated at the interview, as the ultimate decision on who was appointed fell to them.

Enabling tenants to judge our performance...

Along with many other HA's, we have set up a scrutiny panel to enable tenants to judge how we are performing against the TSA standards.  With the abolition of the TSA and, in particular, how regulation will be carried out in the future, we looked at whether or not this was something we still needed to do.

However, along with our Board we were clear that this is actually something we believe strongly in - becoming more transparent to tenants will continue to give them the opportunity to challenge us, and work together to push up standards.  Tenants have been very enthusiastic about this new way of working together.

Jefferson will direct the work of the tenant scrutiny panel, receive regular performance reports and will also oversee a budget to commission audits and inspections of our work.

Jefferson (pictured) says:

"Although it's a relatively new idea, tenant scrutiny is something that will be increasingly talked-about as the new regulatory regime gains purchase.  As a tenant myself, it's doubly exciting to be involved in building this initiative into a workable platform for tenant's views.  By engaging fully with tenant scrutiny, Family Mosaic  marks itself out as a progressive and distinctive organisation."
