06 Sep 2010 Family Mosaic and Capital Growth to help tenants cultivate communal space
Family Mosaic has joined forces with Capital Growth to support tenants to use communal areas to grow food.
Capital Growth, a London-wide campaign to support new community food-growing projects, has been working with social housing providers to help develop urban food projects around the properties they manage, and we aim to register 15 new sites with the campaign by the end of 2012.
A number of resident groups are already involved in food growing projects on land around their housing and social housing landlords are in a great position to facilitate more of this.
As well as helping residents grow food in external communal areas, we will also endeavour to grant permission for use of the land in this way. Capital Growth will also supply expertise, training, tools and even small grants.
If residents want to start a growing project at their block or estate, however big or small, they should contact us using the following numbers or make an enquiry online .
