'Meet Your Neighbour' to address community issues

Over 80 residents attend first 'Meet Your Neighbour' event in South region

Tannoy Square Meet Your Neighbour eventMore than 80 adults and children form Tannoy Square attended  the first 'Meet Your Neighbour' event delivered by the Community Investment team in the South Region on Saturday.

The 'Meet your Neighbour' project enables residents to meet one another with a view to developing a collective approach to addressing neighbourhood issues.

This will then be formalised through a 'Good Neighbour' Agreement' in each community. The day was a resounding success with mosaic-making, herb planting, face-painting, bouncy castle, numerous games and food and drink for everyone to enjoy.

Tannoy Square Meet Your Neighbour event 2The Fire Service, Gypsy Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Team, the local youth and community centre and the regional housing director Sarah Mbatha were in attedance to offer advice and join in with the day.

'Committed to the communities...'

Councillor Jennifer Brathwaite of the Gypsy Hill ward who was also in attendace said: "I had a delightful time at the event and was impressed by the number of residents who turned up and enjoyed the day.

I was struck by the positive and enthusiastic nature of the staff who seemed committed to the communities Family Mosaic served and the provision of decent homes. I only wish that more estates would hold events like this, so that residents can appreciate and get to know the community in which they live."
