Go-ahead for Holloway Road conversion

30 Mar 2009
Plans approved for Holloway Road Victorian terrace conversion

Following a competitive process, Family Mosaic's planning application has now been approved to convert a listed, four-storey Victorian terrace at 429-31 Holloway Road.

The site, originally built as eight separate houses, sits between the Odeon Cinema and National Youth Theatre. In 1972 it was converted into a homeless hostel by LB Islington who have since sold the site via a competitive tendering process.

As the chosen landlord, Family Mosaic is now working with Quinn London Limited to develop a scheme of 14 units, (8 x 5 bed town houses, 4 x1 bed flats and 2x 2 bed wheelchair flats), all for affordable rent. This means we will be able to bring an important empty building back into use by creating a development of high quality family accommodation that helps meet acute housing need in Islington. The terrace will be restored to reflect its listed status.

Family Mosaic has secured grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency for the project and we look forward to completing the project Summer 2010.
