Family Mosaic publishes independent research on new model for social housing

Mirror, Signal, Maneouvre - our drive to provide more social housing?

At Family Mosaic we want to respond positively to the Affordable Rent Model for delivering new homes, but before committing to it we want to understand what it means for tenants, local authority partners and our own finances.

The report, Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre, has really helped our Board clarify where we stand and I hope it may be of interest to you as well. A copy for your information is available below.

As part of this three month review we commissioned Mark Lupton, a leading independent housing analyst, to look at what the new model would have meant to 50 new tenants if they had been charged 60 or 80% of market rent instead of their much lower social housing rent. Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvere gives a unique perspective which has been missing from the debate so far. It has ignored the £26,000 cap on benefits which brings additional challenges.
