Young residents showcase their designs in catwalk finale
Seven young residents showcased their new-found fashion design skills in a catwalk fashion show last week, as the our Fashion Futures project drew to a close.
Over the last few months, the young students learnt how to research, design and create their very own version of the iconic 'Little Black Dress' in a series of hands-on workshops led by tutors from the industry.
Last week's show saw the students present their work to a packed Rich Mix visual arts centre in East London, with friends, family, FM staff and other supporters in attendance.
Kasia Zajac, who managed the project, was extremely proud of the students' work, saying: "Over the last 6 months, I’ve watched their commitment, passion and confidence blossoming. I strongly believe that they have a real chance to move on successfully into further education and employment."
We would like to congratulate all of the young people who took part of the project and are very pleased to announce that their new found skills and confidence has helped several students find apprenticeships in the industry.
We wish them every success for the future, and hope that even more participants will move on successfully into further education and employment.
