New support contract in Basildon

16 Mar 2011
Successful bid to support adults who are deaf and have learning disabilities

Family Mosaic recently won a new contract in the Basildon area to support adults who are deaf and have a learning disability.

This exciting opportunity was secured through a bid that was put together jointly with the Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD). It was a fantastic opportunity to partner with another agency and show the commissioners that together the two organisations could utilise our combined strengths to provide a really innovative and personal service to those living at Charles Harper House.

Essex County Council were very impressed with this proposed new partnership and recognised that together we could achieve real change and use our different skills and knowledge to promote independence and improve the service currently being offered.

Charles Harper House is a purpose equipped supporting housing unit consisting of eight one-bedded units of wheelchair standard, self contained accommodation over two floors with communal lounge and large gardens. We’ll be working closely with RAD to provide some core support and the opportunity to deliver some self directed support will also form part of the new contract.

The chance to work so closely with another organisation, learn new skills and knowledge from one another and still have the same vision has been really refreshing and demonstrates our ability to move forward and provide personalised services in a variety of ways that ultimately produces results for the individual.
