New minor adaptations programme reduces turnaround time

If you or a member of your household is having difficulties using your home due to a disability or long-term illness, you can ask us to adapt it for you.

What's more, our repairs team now provide 'minor adaptations without delay', which is work we can do to your home which costs less than £1000 and does not require a referral from an Occupational Health Therapist. These might include fittings like hand rails or lever taps.

Resident on stepsThe new minor adaptations service has proved a hit with customers, and has reduced the turnaround time of minor adaptations from 18 days to 7 days. Joanna from Dalston (right) recently had a grab rail fitted to help her using the steps to her front door.

Major adaptations

Our major adaptation service, works that cost over £1k, is assessed on a case by case basis. It covers more extensive work such as installing chair lifts and bathroom conversions. An Occupational Therapist referral is needed for major adaptations which residents can arrange by contacting their local council

Contractor with residentDavid (left, on right with a repairs contractor) and his partner from Essex live in a ground floor flat but they had additional requirements for their bathroom which wasn’t suitably adapted for their different needs. They only had a bath which David found difficult to access, so a shower wet room was installed to help his needs. Rather than taking out the bath completely, which David’s partner found easier to use, Glorcroft offered to donate a new one which was specially adapted for her needs.
