Each year, Family Mosaic recruits a number of candidates to the post of Trainee Housing Officer (HO) in our regional Housing teams based in North and South London.  Housing experience is not a necessary requirement.  Instead we ask that candidates have relevant skills which they may have learned from any sector and in any post: qualities we look for include excellent communication skills, an ability to work alone as well as in a team, and most important of all, superb customer service skills.

The HO post is key within the organisation as it provides the vital link between the group and our tenants, helping us to find out what our customers need and how we can provide it.  The post is the visible, personal point of contact for tenants as well as a link with other members of the public and external organisations on all aspects of the provision of housing services.  Our Housing Officers are mobile workers, out of the office most of the day.  They also work from 1-9pm for one day each week.

The Traineeship provides an excellent opportunity for those who wish to join the housing sector, and is a perfect springboard to other jobs in housing.  Successful applicants earn £25,750 pa, rising to £26,750 on completion of their nine month probation, plus an additional performance related bonus of up to 12.5% of their salary.  They receive regular training and a mentor during their first year with the organisation.  Our Trainees have gone on to different careers in housing, including Development, PR, Town Planning and Incomes Management.

While we have current vacancies for HO Trainees, we will also recruit successful candidates to join our waiting list.  Those on the list will then be offered jobs throughout the year as and when the vacancies arise.
